Friday, July 26 at The Fort Langley Jazz Fest.

We have the honour of kicking off the festivities at the Friday Night All-Star Blues Show, the first of many great acts playing that night. We’ll hit the stage at 6:30 p.m. at The Fort Langley National Historic Site (23433 Mabel Ave.) Our good friend Pete Sweetzir will be sitting in with us for this show, adding his keyboard wizardry to the MUD BAY mix.

Hooray hooray, it’s finally May and we’re getting back into live performance mode again. We have a string of shows coming up this month, starting with a road trip to scenic Enderby for our long-awaited return to Lorenzo’s Cafe (long-awaited by us, anyway …) We’ll be there Thursday May 16th and Friday May 17th. We’re looking forward to seeing all our North Okanagan pals again and since it’s always full moon at Lorenzo’s, we’re getting ready for a soul-shakin’ good time!

The following night, Saturday May 18th, will find us in scenic Penticton for our first visit to the legendary Dream Cafe. We’ve heard nothing but great things about this renowned venue and we’re thrilled to be finally making a visit! If you’re a Penticton local or just happen to be in the area, come and get some MUD in yer ear!

The following Saturday, May 25th, we’ll be back in our ancestral stomping grounds with our triumphant return to Club 240 at the Crescent Legion Branch 240. Site of many a memorable night of MUDITUDE (and more than a few great nights we can’t really recall so well!), The Crescent Legion and MUD BAY are old friends and we’re always excited to get back there.

See you at the shows and, as always, we thank you for your support!

Saturday, October 20: MUD BAY Bringin’ It On Home.  7 p.m. at Blue Frog Studios, White Rock.

MUD BAY is rolling home for the final concert of their 40th Birthday Concert Series, back to White Rock where it all began back in 1978. And there’s no better place to cap their year-long celebration of 4 decades of music and friendship than at “Canada’s Hottest Live Broadcast Theatre”, BLUE FROG STUDIOS.
“The Band That Won’t Go Away” and Blue Frog Studios: That’s a recipe for an unforgettable night of Rock, Roots and Blues. Played the MUD BAY way.

40 years …?! My, oh my, where does the time go?
Seems like just yesterday we were all crammed into the tiny living room of Mud Bay Slim’s rented shack on 16th Ave (that’s North Bluff to you South Surrey folks …) raising a righteous ruckus as dawn came creeping through the window.
In the words of the song: “What a long strange trip it’s been …”
A 40-year voyage through the bars, clubs, stages, studios, highways and back alleys of the music biz. Always taking the road less traveled. That’s the MUD BAY way.
Come and join us for this celebration of 4 decades of music-making and friendship. We promise a night to remember–for all the right reasons.

Sunday, July 1st: Canada Day with MUD BAY, 4 – 6 p.m. at The Backstage Lounge, Granville Island.

A Canada Day tradition continues!

MUD BAY returns to The Backstage Lounge on scenic Granville Island to celebrate the True North Strong and Free on our national holiday. Great food and drinks with friendly service in an ideal setting for patriotic revelry PLUS a healthy portion of MUD in yer ear … It’s a great day to be Canadian!

Note the start time: 4 p.m. Don’t be late!

See you there!

Saturday, June 9: MUD BAY at The Flamingo Lounge

The MUD BAY 40th Birthday Party continues this Saturday night with a Night of Mudness at the Flamingo Hotel (10768 King George Highway, Surrey, BC).
This is attempt # 2 to get some MUD on the floor of this venerable North Surrey landmark, newly renovated and rebranded as an Arts & Entertainment complex. Attempt #1 was scuttled by a fire in one of the hotel rooms which forced cancellation of our show at The Byrd. But it takes more than a little bit of fire to thwart our evil plans and we’ll be raising a ruckus from 8 till late at The Flamingo Lounge, a truly cool room with a classic roadhouse vibe. Plentiful libations, friendly service, great sound and a healthy dose of MUD in your ear all add up to a night to remember–for all the right reasons!

See you there!

*Legendary frontman / singer / songwriter PHIL SMITH of WASTED LIVES, CORSAGE and JIMBO AND THE LIZARD KINGS renown.

* Singer / songwriter / harmonica king BOB MERCER, the wheelin’-dealin’-show-stealin’ leader of THE MASSES and THE RED STARS.

* MUD BAY alumnus and Whammy Award winning bass guitarist BOB (BEAUDINE) PETTERSON, low frequency generator for EDDY D AND THE SEX BOMBS, THE RED STARS, and too many others to mention here.

And we might just have another surprise or two up our sleeves … There’s only one way to find out for sure.

Saturday. April 14th – MUD BAY at The Byrd (Flamingo Hotel, 10768 King George Blvd. Surrey)

(Editor’s note: This show was cancelled, almost at the last minute, due to a fire at the Flamingo Hotel which caused damage to The Byrd. Our Flamingo debut has been rescheduled for June 9, 2018 at the Flamingo Lounge. More details to follow.)

The MUD40 celebrations continue as MUD BAY bring their high intensity Roots / Rock / Rhythm & Blues to The Byrd, Saturday, April 14.

Renowned worldwide as trailblazers and true Soul Survivors, Mud Bay features classic influences – Blues, Country, Cajun, Rock, Soul – finding fresh expression inside innovative songs showcasing dynamic vocals and solid musicianship.
Unconventional, uncompromising, undeniably unique, Mud Bay deliver the goods. Always have, always will.

MUDBAY40 in February:

Sat. Feb. 17: We’re heading up the highway to scenic Chilliwack for a night of unrestrained revelry at one of our favourite places, The Triple Play Pub. Looking forward to meeting up with some old friends (and making some new ones!) in the beautiful Fraser Valley. The Triple Play is a great place to get together. Fine food and drinks and friendly service make this the perfect place for the next night of our continuing MUDBAY40 celebrations.

40 years of Blues and Beyond! Come on out and party with us!
See ya there!

40 Years of Blues and Beyond: Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Crescent Legion.

How many times has MUD BAY played the Crescent Legion over the years? No one seems to know for sure but it’s definitely a pretty big number. Let’s just say it’s been many times. Many many times.

There’s a lot of good reasons for that but the main one has to be this: It’s just a great place to play. We love the place. And the feeling is mutual. ‘The Band That Won’t Go Away’ and the good folks at the Crescent Legion (RCL Branch 240) go way way back and the hall has been the site of some of our most memorable shows (and, as often as not, some of our most dimly-remembered shows–and you can draw your own conclusions from that statement …)

So it’s natural that we would want to kick off our 40th year of Muditude with a righteous bash at good old CLUB 240 at the Crescent Legion. Celebrating 40 years of making music the MUD BAY way at the hall we’ve played most frequently over those years? That’s a no-brainer if ever there was one …

We’re gonna raise roof, we’re gonna make a righteous ruckus, we’re gonna get down and dirty with it. We’re gonna pitch a wang dang doodle ALL NIGHT LONG.

Saturday, Feb 24th. Club 240 at the Crescent Legion RCL Branch 240, 2643 – 128 Street, Surrey. You’d best be there, ya hear?

Advance tickets available at RCL 240. Call 604 535 1080 for more info.

A Very Muddy Christmas at Blue Frog Studios, Dec 16

We’re thrilled to be continuing the tradition of ending our year with a Christmas Dance Party at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock. These shows usually sell out in a big hurry but if you’re real quick about it there might still be a few tickets available at

With special guests Pete Sweetzir (keyboards) and Aidan Farrell (vocals).

We’re back at “The Beat in the Heart of The Royal City” this coming Sat. night, Dec 9th. Always stoked to play the Heritage Grill. This will be a night to remember (however hazily …)

Muds at Backstage Lounge, Aug, 5, 2017

See you there!

Live At Lorenzo’s – July 7 & 8!

We’re on the road again, traveling to one of our fave destinations, the legendary LORENZO’S CAFE in scenic Enderby. The site of some truly epic shows (and more than a few dimly-remembered after-show revelries) LORENZO’S is a one-of-a-kind venue, reminiscent of the classic roadhouses we used to play way back in the day. A fine dining establishment with a look and feel that is utterly unique, LORENZO’S CAFE (pictured below) is like no place you’ve ever been before, and we always get right revved up to play this great room.

901 Mabel Lake Rd., Enderby, B.C. (Reservations recommended, click on the poster below for more info).

And, speaking of LORENZO’S, we thrilled to announce that we have a brand new collection of songs coming out in the not-too-distant future, the long-awaited (by us, anyway) “LIVE AT LORENZO’S” album. Nine rocking tunes recorded last year at our favourite juke joint, including two brand-new, never-before-recorded MUD BAY originals! And since we shot video at the same time, look for a pile of new vids coming soon to our YouTube channel. Our thanks to Jesse Waldman who captured the audio, and to Stokely Seip (and his trusty assistant, Bart) who shot the video. We’ll have more on this project soon, so watch this space for details …

Previous shows:

CANADA 150 DAY – July 1st, 4 p.m. at The Backstage Lounge, Arts Club Theatre, Granville Island.

For the 3rd consecutive year, we’ll be celebrating Canada Day with an afternoon show at the Arts Club Theatre’s BACKSTAGE LOUNGE (1585 Johnston St., Granville Island). From 4 till 8, we’ll be making joyful noises in one of Vancouver’s greatest live music rooms. Great atmosphere, spectacular scenery, the Backstage Lounge has it all, including a superb sound system, fine food and drinks, and friendly service in a relaxed and comfortable setting. We always have a great time playing this event and we’re looking forward to doing it all again this Saturday afternoon! Free admission, so bring a friend or five …. See you there!

Muds return to the Princeton, May 27, with Jesse Waldman and the Mojophonics.

It’s been about 10 years since we last stomped onto the stage of Vancouver’s historic Princeton Pub. My oh my, how time does fly!

A lot has changed since then. We’re an older (and, presumably, wiser) bunch of Blues Bastards, with 3 albums released (and a new one currently in the works) and many many MANY shows played in the interim. And the Princeton Pub has elevated its local status, evolving into one of Vancouver’s premiere live music venues, featuring an eclectic mix of musical performance, without sacrificing the gritty Powell Street ambience that always made it a good choice for a night of carousing. Fine food and drinks, great atmosphere with a welcoming vibe … It’s our kind of place. About time we returned!

We’re looking forward to reconnecting with our East Vancouver pals and to sharing the stage with one of Vancouver’s finest bands: Jesse Waldman and the Mojophonics, stellar musicians and fine human beings all.

This will be a night to remember–for all the right reasons. Hope to see you there.

It’s been a while since we last played CLUB 240 (aka the Crescent Beach Legion / RCL Branch 240) and we’re excited to be returning there on Saturday, April 8.

It’s always great to return to our old stomping ground, the scene of many warm and fuzzy memories (and day-after wobbles) and we’re looking forward to seeing all our old pals in the South Surrey homeland where we started this strange and wonderful musical journey of ours 39 years ago.

Mud Bay Slim and The Legendary Kings of Saturday Night (aka the MUD BAY Blues Band aka The Band That Won’t Go Away) will be road testing a few brand new songs as well as playing all the old faves. We might even have a surprise guest or 2 … ya never know.

Tickets are a mere $20, available in advance at the Crescent Beach Legion (2643 128 St., Surrey / 604-535-1080) or from Mud Bay Slim himself (if you can track him down). Or just pay at the door when you get there.

Hope you can join us for a night of unrestrained and uninhibited Blues and Roots rock. SEE YOU THERE!

We’ll be back at The Beat In The Heart Of The Royal City on Saturday Jan 28, all rested, rejuvenated and ready to rock.

As always, we’ll be featuring highly original Originals and plenty of classic Classics, all played the MUD BAY way and, yes, there’s still NO COVER CHARGE!
