MUD BAY Blues Band – Founded 1978
For 39 years (and counting) the MUD BAY Blues Band has been electrifying audiences with their unique brand of high-intensity Blues & Roots music. Weathering more than a few storms along the way, they have been hailed true Soul Survivors — “The Band That Won’t Go Away” — much to the delight of music lovers worldwide.
The five-piece band features four songwriters (three of whom are lead vocalists) but underlying this diversity is a remarkable consistency, a shared vision refined over many years. Distinct as the individual contributions may be, it all comes out sounding like the MUD BAY Blues Band.
Dance floor-friendly Roots and Blues Rock with strong vocals and dynamic rhythms, their original compositions draw from a wide range of influences: classic Chicago Blues, Country, Cajun, Rock, Soul … all finding common ground inside well-crafted inventive songs.
Trailblazers of the Indie Blues movement, the MUD BAY Blues Band has always taken the road less travelled. Favoring innovation over imitation, their dedication to expanding and enriching the Blues and Roots idiom has never wavered. With almost four decades of dues paid, they have earned respect and praise from such blues legends as James Cotton (“Just like playing with family”) and the late great Stevie Ray Vaughn (“MUD BAY…? More fun!”)
MUD BAY Blues Band’s fourth album, Colebrook Road, is receiving strong play on CFRO, CITR, CJSF and 98.3 FM locally; on Stingray Music, CBC Radio One, and community and college radio across Canada; and on internet radio around the world.
Unconventional. Uncompromising. This ain’t your average Blues band.
